| Overview: |
POSITION SUMMARY A psychiatrist licensed in the state of assignment, under the supervision of the Medical Director, is responsible for providing consultation, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment to inmates at the correctional facility. JOB RELATIONS SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Wexford Medical Director RELATIONSHIPS: Works effectively with patients, patient families as appropriate, dental staff, and medical and support staff (i.e., pharmacy, laboratory) and consulting physicians and dentists, etc.

| Responsibilities: |
1. Provide onsite psychiatrist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of those inmates referred by the medical or clinical services staff. 2. Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis and treatment course. 3. Screening of inmates prior to community correctional facility placement, and evaluation of inmates for possible transfer to a psychiatric treatment facility. 4. Where applicable, provide psychiatric services for inpatient Mental Health Unit, to include assessment and diagnostic, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of all inmates assigned. 5. Where applicable, provide psychiatric services for all inmates referred by the Mental Health Unit for those inmates in the general population who need regular psychiatric/mental health follow-up. 6. Participate in the treatment programming and planning for the mental health unit staff and supervisor, discussing problem cases, follow-up and monitoring of medication, and general psychiatric input. 7. Provide services in compliance with administrative directives and departmental rules governing mental health services and guilty, but mentally ill patients. 8. Provide a psychological/psychiatric evaluation for any employee when requested by the CAO of the facility with the approval of the respective DOC Deputy Director. 9. Responds to mental health grievances when requested. 10. Obtains approval of Wexford Administration prior to modifying days, hours or site of services 11. Strives to ensure 100% of service hours agreed to are provided 12. Complies with and enforces Wexford/Facility Policies and Procedures 13. Prepares and submits reports as requested by the facility administration or Wexford Designated Manager 14. Receives direction from DOC personnel as appropriate, including but not limited to Wardens, Health Care Unit Administrators 15. Conforms to Wexford Health Sources, Inc., and facility regulations as appropriate, to include, but not be limited to: a. Dress code b. Schedule/time sheet/time clock c. Safety and security regulations d. Procedure for sick leave/vacation time/education seminars 16. Maintain the confidentiality of inmate records. 17. Approach change in a positive manner. 18. Make suggestions for improving work conditions to the Medical Director and Health Care Unit Administrator. 19. Accept constructive criticism in stressful situations. 20. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OFFICE: Health Care Unit in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and health care personnel. TRAVEL: Minimal to extensive travel may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. LICENSING: State MD license. CERTIFICATION: Board Certification in Psychiatry preferred, CPR
EXPERIENCE: Correctional experience preferred
EDUCATION: Medical degree, internships/residency in Psychiatry
