1. Examine patients and document findings on standard forms, utilizing applicable dental classification systems (i.e., APHA). 2. Provide appropriate preventative restorative dental care as needed within the administrative guidelines to all inmates. 3. Provide appropriate care for emergency patients as soon as possible. 4. Maintain cleanliness and sterile conditions in the Dental Unit. 5. Ensure continuity of care. 6. Make appropriate entries on patients' charts. 7. Supply data for clinic reports. 8. Keep dental license up-to-date, and ensure current copy is on file in the Health Care Unit. 9. Perform other duties as required. 10. Must be CPR certified and skilled in recognizing the symptoms of shock and fainting, and must be prepared to provide necessary aid as directed during emergency procedures. 11. Responsible for dental office security to include instrument, medicine and needle counts. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OFFICE: Standard dental setting in correctional facility. TRAVEL: Minimal travel required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS LICENSING: Current state dental license; Current DEA license CERTIFICATION: CPR EDUCATION: Minimum 3 years practicing dentistry, with 24 months experience in hands-on comprehensive dental services within the past two years. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 12 months experience in a correctional health care setting or in a public health setting, military, or managed health care environment desirable. Skilled in recognizing the symptoms of shock and fainting; must be prepared to provide necessary aid as directed during procedures.
